No Love Lost For Tattar at Disc Side of Heaven

2024 Jonesboro Open - Day 1 FPO Recap

Friday, April 12, 2024 - 15:13

A sixth-place finish at a Disc Golf Pro Tour Elite Event is a result that most players would dream of. For Kristin Tattar, it represented her worst finish of the 2023 season at last year’s Jonesboro Open.

This year, the world number 1, who has called Jonesboro’s Disc Side of Heaven course one of her favorites on tour, showed that there was no love lost as she dashed off a blistering 1044-rated (unofficial) 10-under opening round.

With winds gusting, Tattar got off to a slow start, carding one of two bogies of the day on hole 2 after an uncharacteristic three-putt.

But she quickly cleaned up her game, managing the course and the wind to perfection, hitting 20/21 fairways and 12/14 C1X putting (according to PDGA Live Stats).

“First of all, I just try to wait a little bit and see if it changes,” Tattar said of the challenging conditions. “The wind was just swirling around, so I knew I could not be anxious. I had to be patient, and trust that my moment will come.”

The rest of the field struggled, with Eveliina Salonen, winner at the DGPT season opener at Chess.com, leading the way at 4-under, a distant 6-strokes behind the leader.

FPO Lead Card Tees off Saturday at 9:55 C.T. with Live coverage only on the Disc Golf Network.

I don't think the author here understands the meaning of "no love lost." The article's title makes it sound like people dislike Tattar. But maybe some of her competitors feel that way after her latest performance!

Who are the parties involved with the "no love lost" reference? The contributing writer may have been thinking of K,Tattar and some other person(s) as having not waisted any affection on one another. But I fail to notice how that is illustrated in the article.

Perhaps the author has a misunderstanding of the reference. That does not explain how the PDGA editors also thought the article was properly titled.
